Executive Contracting & Consulting Services
Specializing in STEM Education
I offer 38 years of STEM leadership culminating in appointment as White House STEM Policy Advisor, where I engineered Charting Course for Success: America’s Strategy for STEM Education. Prior to and since that gig I’ve been CEO of one of the nation’s most successful statewide STEM programs, prototyping innovations that have gone viral across the country from my home state of Iowa. I stepped out to start this adventure in early 2024. It’s all detailed in my three books and numerous publications chronicling a STEM pioneer’s journey.
So, whether you too are a state STEM leader, or a corporate STEM advocate, a local or regional STEM champion, a government official, a STEM lead within an organization, a scholar, writer or an executive in whatever field seeking a helpful and expert ear, I’m curious and eager to help.
I’ve coached and collaborated with a number of America’s leading state and national voices in STEM education, with whom lots of wisdom has been accumulated. No sense sitting on it! (Happy to provide references on request.)
My services range from, but aren’t limited to, simply one-on-one check-ins, training of boards, keynoting meetings, proofing/editing, project/program design consulting, advocacy and network building, content writing (web, speeches, reports), strategic planning, or on-call mentor-able moments. More detail follows.

Advisory Confidant
A sounding board — on speed dial if needed — for trusted, instant, expert reactions to the triumphs and the trials of an executive leader who could use a discrete, insightful external lens.
Boards and Staff Development
We’re only as good as the people who surround us - from both oversight and support levels. Often their CEO is their best professional developer but sometimes an independent voice comes in handy. That’d be me.
Editing/Proofing/Content Development
Prepping a speech? Producing website copy? Annual report narrative? Promotion material? Tap an accomplished writer/editor to discretely offer feedback or to generate content outright if needed.
Rolling out a new program, extending tentacles toward new partners, making a case for STEM, planning for the future? Been there, done that, and eager to share hard-earned insights.
“Much to the surprise of newcomers to the trans-discipline STEM,… is that STEM assembled as an acronym sums to well more than its parts. It is a prescription for education.”
